Biography

Paula Smith was raised in Oxford, Ohio by her parents Sally Smith and Luther Smith. Her family founded the Allen Foundation at Miami University to serve as a place of refuge for Black students on campus during the mid to late 1900s. Paula graduated from Miami in 1963 where she obtained her degree in Fine Arts. After leaving Oxford, she used her degree as a painter and an art teacher in schools across the country. Paula passed away on March 27, 2023.
